The Sindh government has increased the salaries of 4425 contractual teachers from Rs 18000 to Rs 25000 per month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Sindh Finance Department has approved Rs995.6 million to pay their nine months’ salaries from April to December 2022.

The Sindh Cabinet had already approved the summary on July 7 in this regard.

Earlier, the increment has been proposed by the Sindh Education Department and a summary in this regard has been sent to Auditor General Sindh for approval.

These 4425 teachers were recruited during the tenure of former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf under two different programs of the federal government.

After the eighteenth constitutional amendments, these teachers became part of the Sindh government.

The decision will apply to National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) teachers.

The decision to make these teachers permanent has not yet been taken.
