Flight operation was badly affected as nine international and domestic flights failed to depart from Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) in Karachi due to operational and technical reasons on Monday, reported 4NewsHD TV channel.
Two Emirates Airlines flights, EK-609 and EK-605, were cancelled. These flights were scheduled to land at Dubai International Airport from Karachi.
A Thai Airways flight TG-342, was cancelled. The flight was scheduled to depart from Karachi to Bangkok, Thailand.
Two Air Sial flights, PF-141 and PF-145, were cancelled. These flights were scheduled to land at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA), Lahore, from Karachi.
Two more flights of Air Sial PF-121 and PF-123, were cancelled. These flights were scheduled to land at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) Islamabad.
A Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-306 was cancelled. The flight was scheduled to depart from Karachi for Lahore.
Another PIA flight PK-501, was also cancelled. The flight was scheduled to land in Turbat from Karachi.
Earlier on Sunday, Pakistan said that it would introduce a new satellite-guided navigation system for flights to Skardu, Gilgit and Chitral by June 2026, aiming to curb chronic weather-related delays and cancellations at the three remote northern airports.
The destinations are among Pakistan’s most visited tourist sites and serve as gateways to the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges. Gilgit-Baltistan, which borders China, also holds strategic significance as part of the northern corridor linking the two neighbors.
