New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips expressed his admiration for the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium following his team’s victory against Pakistan in the tri-nation series, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Phillips expressed his delight for making a century and taking a vital wicket, adding that he rarely got the opportunity to play big innings at his batting position.
"I enjoyed my hundred. Given the position I bat at, I don’t often get the chance to score big runs," he said.
Phillips applauded the PCB for its efforts in upgrading the stadium and maintaining a high-quality pitch.
"PCB has done a fantastic job with the renovation of Gaddafi Stadium.
It looks stunning, and the pitch was excellent," Phillips stated, adding " Early on, I needed some time to adjust, but after that, run-making became smooth," he added.
Phillips also touched upon his team’s approach to spin bowling, stating that New Zealand is accustomed to playing spinners even on their home turf.
He emphasized that their strategy for the upcoming match against South Africa would be adjusted according to the situation.
When asked about facing Shaheen Afridi, Phillips mentioned that he did not undergo any special preparations.
However, he acknowledged both Shaheen and Naseem Shah as "world-class bowlers" who pose a significant challenge.
He also commented on his teammate Rachin Ravindra’s injury, explaining that Ravindra misjudged the ball under lights, which led to his injury.
