Pakistan Saturday suffered a major setback as star fast bowler Haris Rauf limped off the field due to an ankle injury during the first ODI of the tri-nation series against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium.
The injury raised serious concerns about his availability for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.
Rauf, who had been in excellent form, was delivering with pace and control before the unfortunate incident occurred. While bowling the second ball of the 37th over, he suddenly felt discomfort and pain in his ankle.
Without waiting for medical assistance, the pacer walked off the field, dealing a significant blow to Pakistan’s bowling attack.
This injury comes at a critical time for Pakistan, as they have already lost young opener Saim Ayub, who was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to injury.
