Members of legal fraternity called off their sit-in protest and boycott of courts on Saturday after SSP Hyderabad who manhandled a lawyer was transferred from his post, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) sent Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjar on leave after the lawyers protested across the province. The IGP gave additional charge of SSP Hyderabad to the SSP Tando Muhammad Khan.

DIG Hyderabad issued a notification for the transfer of SSP Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjar.

Karachi Bar President Aamir Nawaz said their demand has been fulfilled and the Sindh IG has ordered SSP Hyderabad to report to headquarters.

This led to lawyers called off their sit-in in Hyderabad blocking the National Highway for the last three days. The traffic was restored on the highway after the triumphant black coats left.

The three-day blockade of the National Highway saw long lines of vehicles including trucks and containers carrying food and fuel supplies.

Earlier, the police high-ups had promised to transfer SSP Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjar over his “unlawful actions” against lawyer Ali Raza Bozdar.

Reports said local SHO had booked the advocate on the instructions of the SSP to teach him a lesson as his car had dared to enter the police officer’s convoy.
