The PlayStation Network (PSN) has suffered a major outage, leaving gamers worldwide frustrated.
Reports indicate that the disruption began around midnight on Friday in the UK, leaving thousands of players unable to connect.
PSN, Sony’s online gaming platform, allows PlayStation users to access multiplayer features, digital content, and exclusive events.
The Guardian reports that over 71,000 users have flagged the issue, with many unable to log into their accounts, access online lobbies, or browse the PlayStation Store.
The outage comes as a major blow to subscribers, who pay £13.49 per month, £39.99 for three months, or £119.99 annually for premium services. Many frustrated players have pointed to these costs while demanding compensation from Sony.
The timing of the disruption has worsened the backlash, as weekends are crucial for online gaming events. Popular titles like FC 25 host their competitive “Weekend League” matches, while Call of Duty players are missing out on a promotional event featuring double XP rewards in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Angry PlayStation users have flooded social media with memes, complaints, and sarcastic remarks.
“Everyone deserves this month’s PS Plus for free. Paying for the network to go down on a weekend is ridiculous,” one user wrote on X.
“I work a 9 to 5 and come home just to see PlayStation servers are down on a Friday,” another posted.
“PlayStation Network is down... guess I finally have time to get to know my wife of five years,” a frustrated gamer joked.
Sony has acknowledged the outage, stating on its support page that it is aware of the issue and working to resolve it as soon as possible. However, no official timeline for restoration has been provided, leaving gamers anxiously waiting for a fix.
