The Pakistan Hockey team suffered a major blow ahead of the start of the Pro Hockey League in Australia when its finest player, Abdul Hanan Shahi,d was ruled out due to injury, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to sources, Hanan Shahid sustained a fitness-related injury during Pakistan’s match against Australia in Hobart, where medical assessments later confirmed a first-grade injury.
Team doctors have advised the Lahore-born forward to take at least four weeks of rest.
Hanan Shahid has been a key performer for Pakistan, playing a crucial role in several victories with his attacking contributions and consistent performances.
Following his withdrawal from the Pro Hockey League, Hanan Shahid’s participation in the World Cup qualifying round has also become uncertain.
The qualifying event is scheduled to be held in Egypt from March 1 to March 7.
