The district administration has extended Section 144 in Rawalpindi for another 15 days until February 21, 2026, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema issued a notification on Sunday in this regard. As per the notification, a complete ban is imposed on all kinds of public rallies and public gatherings.
The notification further stated that a ban is also imposed on the display of weapons, use of loudspeakers.
The extension in Section 144 is approved after receiving recommendations from the Intelligence Committee.
Security on high alert in Rawalpindi
As per the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, the security in Rawalpindi is on high alert, and more than 4300 jawans of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) are performing their duties in the field.
Special checking pickets are established in 82 locations on main entry and exit points of the City.
Due to the imposition of Section 144, a complete ban is also imposed on pillion riding. Police mobiles, elite force personnel, and Dolphin force personnel are performing their duties.
The City Police Officer said that nobody will be allowed to create a law and order situation in the City. He further warned that anyone found involved in such activity will be dealt with as per the iron hands.
