US President Donald Trump has conveyed his support and best wishes to the United States cricket team competing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, currently being held in India.
In a message shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said he had been informed that the T20 World Cup was underway in India. He expressed confidence in the American side, describing it as a strong team and assuring players of national backing.
“I wish Team USA the very best. Our team is very strong. America is with you,” Trump wrote.
The message came a day after the United States played its opening Group A fixture against hosts India. In the match, India emerged victorious after setting a target of 162 runs.
Batting second, the US side managed 132 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs, falling short of the target. Earlier, India had scored 161 for nine after the US won the toss and opted to field in the match played in Mumbai.
Despite the defeat, the US team continues its campaign in the tournament as it looks to make an impact on the global stage.
