In a heartwarming story that challenges societal norms, a young boy has made headlines by supporting his mother’s decision to remarry.

Against societal odds and pressures often faced by single mothers in a country like Pakistan, Abdul Ahad’s role in facilitating his mother’s second marriage has sparked widespread praise and discussion.

Speaking to BBC Urdu, he revealed that his mother had received several marriage proposals over the years but had always hesitated due to social stigma and concerns about her children’s wellbeing.

This time, however, he encouraged her to pursue a relationship after personally speaking to the man and finding him genuine in his intentions.

“I wanted to make sure he truly cared about my mother and our family. Once I was convinced, I gave my approval,” he said, adding that the decision has been life-changing for their family.

His urged other single mothers to consider giving love a second chance despite the social pressures they often face.

“In our society, single parents – especially mothers – are discouraged from seeking happiness through remarriage. I only wanted someone who would accept my children wholeheartedly, and I’m happy to have finally found that,” she said.

She emphasized the importance of overcoming societal judgment for the sake of personal happiness and the well-being of children.

“Divorced women should not fear taking this step. It’s possible to find someone who respects and values your family,” she added.

The marriage ceremony, which close family and friends attended, received a wave of positive feedback. Abdul said that even the Qazi (Islamic marriage officiant) praised their supportive stance.

“I’m overwhelmed by how positively people have responded to this. It’s proof that societal norms can change if we choose to challenge them,” he Abdul said.

The story has since gone viral on social media, sparking debates about the stigma surrounding second marriages for single parents in Pakistan. Many have lauded Abdul and his family for breaking barriers and setting an example of love, understanding, and support. Watch out!
