The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif on Thursday visited Shalamar Hospital in Lahore to inquire after his childhood friend Malik Nazir, who is currently undergoing treatment.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Nawaz Sharif prayed for Nazir’s early recovery and expressed his good wishes during the meeting.
Doctors at the hospital briefed the former prime minister on the patient’s medical condition and the course of treatment being administered.
Sharif remained at the facility for some time before departing.
The visit comes just a week after Nawaz Sharif toured Sharif Medical City Hospital on January 2, where he inspected different wards and reviewed the healthcare facilities available.
During that visit, the hospital administration provided him with a detailed overview of operational, administrative and clinical services at the institution.
Shalamar Hospital, where Malik Nazir is admitted, has been a not-for-profit community healthcare provider since 1982. Treating more than 600,000 patients each year from Lahore and across Punjab, it is regarded as one of the busiest hospitals in the provincial capital.
What began in 1978 with six departments and 50 beds has expanded into a major tertiary-care teaching hospital offering services across 27 clinical specialities, staffed by skilled professionals and equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities.
