Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered to spread a network of stroke centers across the province to provide timely treatment to the patients of paralysis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision was taken at a special meeting chaired by CM Maryam on Thursday.
Under the stroke management programme, paralysis will no longer remain a life-taking disease as the patient will be shifted to a hospital within four hours of the attack, thus saving him or her from lifelong disability.
A neurologist and a pediatric neurologist will be appointed at stroke centers at all district hospitals.
The chief minister also ordered that CT Scan machines be kept ready at every hospital round the clock, while physicians should be trained in administering TPA and TNA injections besides stroke management.
CM Maryam also approved the purchase of TPA injections.
These stroke centers will be set up in phases.
In the first phase, these centers will be set up in 30, then 15 and in the end 24 districts.
Stroke management programme will also be introduced at the Institute of Cardiology temporarily.
The meeting also decided to run an effective campaign to make people aware of the symptoms of paralysis.
