Pakistani actress Zara Noor Abbas has taken a bold stand against the beauty industry’s obsession with age and fairness, urging celebrities and influencers to refrain from promoting anti-ageing and skin-lightening products.
In a message on Instagram, the 34-year-old Ehd-e-Wafa star called on the public to ‘embrace aging’ and reject the culture of ‘short-lived vanity’.
“Let’s please stop promoting anti-ageing,” she wrote. “Aging is going to happen. That's the only natural and beautiful truth. Accept it.”
Zara, daughter of veteran actress Asma Abbas and niece of Bushra Ansari, warned against the growing trend of slimming drops, weight-loss medication, and fairness products being marketed online.
“Let this be a process of life you don't control,” she said. “Drug abuse with medication is the worst sort of addiction. Vanity is very short-lived. Work on your mind. Your brain. That will last.”
Reports suggest her mother and aunt were linked with age-related cosmetic treatments.
Bushra Ansari has publicly admitted to minor enhancements like brow lifts and collagen injections, and once faced backlash for sharing footage from a skin clinic. Asma Abbas, meanwhile, underwent a freckle removal treatment that reportedly led to a severe allergic reaction.
Zara, who began her acting journey in 2016 with Dharkan, continues to use her platform to advocate for self-acceptance, calling on the entertainment industry to reflect more natural, diverse standards of beauty.
She stressed, “We need to rethink how endorsements and content are shaping our young generation’s mindset.”
“Let’s stop reinforcing the idea that beauty comes from being fair or ageless,” she advised.
