Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) said on Wednesday they had hit dozens of US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to American strikes, in a statement carried by state broadcaster IRIB.
"In an initial response to this aggression, the IRGC Navy and Aerospace Force carried out a joint missile and drone operation, striking 85 key US military facilities" in the two countries.
Member of Revolutionary Guards killed in US strikes
US strikes in southwest Iran on Wednesday killed a member of the Revolutionary Guards' navy, Iran's official IRNA news agency said.
"A member of the Guards, Mohammad Reza Khazini, was hit by shrapnel and died a martyr while confronting enemy drones" in Mahshahr, a port city not far from the Iraqi border, IRNA reported, citing a statement from the Guards, the ideological arm of the Iranian military.
Iran calls Qatar accusations over LNG tanker attack 'unacceptable'
Iran on Tuesday condemned Qatar for accusations that it was behind an attack on one of the Gulf emirate's vessels, after Doha said Tehran had targeted a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker off the coast of Oman.
"Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Qatar's accusations against Iran over the alleged attack on a vessel linked to the country in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday were questionable and contrary to the principle of good neighbourliness, describing them as unacceptable," state news agency IRNA reported.
Iran warns of 'decisive' action after US strikes around Hormuz
Iranian state media on Tuesday reported a series of explosions heard in the Strait of Hormuz region, moments after US officials announced "powerful" strikes on Iran.
IRIB news reported six explosions were heard on the Iranian island of Qeshm, seven explosions were heard in the city of Sirik and more were heard in the major port city of Bandar Abbas.
Iran's foreign ministry warned of retaliation and said the United States has repeatedly violated their memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the Middle East war, pointing to ongoing aggression in Lebanon and other threats.
"Iran is issuing a serious warning about the consequences of America's breach of the treaty, and will take decisive measures to protect its interests and national security," the ministry said in a statement posted to Telegram by IRIB News.
The US revoked a temporary sanctions waiver for Iranian oil Tuesday after three tankers were struck in the Strait of Hormuz, raising pressure on Tehran as it negotiates with Washington over ending the Middle East war.
British maritime security agency UKMTO said an "unknown projectile" hit a tanker overnight, causing a fire, before two more vessels were struck, at least one by a drone.
All three vessels were struck close to Oman, which had proposed a temporary transit corridor hugging its coastline -- an initiative opposed by Iran as it seeks to impose fees on ships using the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces say struck over 80 targets, including Iranian air defense systems
The United States military hit over 80 targets during its latest strikes on Iran, US Central Command said Tuesday, conducted in response to Tehran's attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
"US forces struck Iranian defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait," the US military said in a statement posted to X.
Kuwait army says responding to missile, drone attacks
The Kuwaiti army said on Wednesday it was responding to missile and drone attacks, after Iran threatened retaliation for a wave of US strikes.
"Kuwaiti air defenses are currently engaging hostile missile and drone attacks," the army said on X, without saying where they were coming from. "The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosions heard are a result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks."
Air sirens sounded in Bahrain: interior ministry
Air sirens were activated in Bahrain on Wednesday, the interior ministry said, after US strikes on dozens of targets in Iran further shook efforts to end the Middle East war.
"The siren has been sounded," the ministry said on X, without giving details of the apparent threat. "Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place."
