In an important decision, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday declared that a court fee and Rs5,000 security would both have to be paid while filing any petition, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a written order on a review petition filed by Shabeeran Bibi, Justice Muzammal Akhtar Shabbir said that the court fee and security were both separate legal requirements, and both payments could not be called 'double jeopardy’.

The high court upheld the registrar office’s objection to the petition and gave the petitioner a deadline of 15 days to remove the objection.

And in case the court went on to say the objection was not removed, the plea would be made part of the record, and in case the objection was removed, the case would be fixed for hearing.
