Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, has decided to cancel more than 1,200 suspicious LLB degrees issued through its affiliated law colleges following an investigation into alleged irregularities in academic records.
According to details, the university will issue a public notice regarding the cancellation of the disputed certificates and has directed the holders of the degrees to provide documentary proof of their validity within 15 days.
Sources said the names of several prominent legal professionals are among those whose LLB certificates have come under scrutiny.
The decision follows the findings of an investigation committee that examined the records of the university and its affiliated law colleges. During the inquiry, officials reportedly uncovered several suspicious and allegedly fake academic records.
According to the investigation report, FIRs were registered against 128 individuals in the first phase of the inquiry over alleged fake records.
In the second phase, more than eight officials allegedly linked to the irregularities were suspended, while their entry into the university was also banned, according to the report.
The university has warned that if the concerned individuals fail to submit satisfactory evidence confirming the authenticity of their qualifications within the stipulated 15-day period, their degrees and examination results will be cancelled.
