Two young cricketers were shot dead after unidentified assailants opened fire during a cricket match in the Shamsabad Cross area of Balochistan's Mastung district on Wednesday, police said.
According to police officials, unknown gunmen opened fire on players at the cricket ground while the match was in progress, killing two youths on the spot.
The victims were identified as Ayush and Sagar, police said.
The shooting triggered panic at the venue, with players and spectators fleeing in different directions to save their lives.
Police and other law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information about the attack. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, while investigators cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence.
The attackers managed to escape after carrying out the shooting, and police launched an investigation to trace and arrest those responsible.
