Former ambassador Muhammad Sadiq given new assignment in Afghanistan

The government has appointed former ambassador Muhammad Sadiq as a special representative for Afghanistan.

Muhammad Sadiq is a retired officer of the Foreign Service of Pakistan and has a vast diplomatic experience, says the Foreign Office spokesperson. He served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan from 2008 to 2014. Earlier, he represented Pakistan as ambassador in Brussels, Beijing and Washington. He also served as spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry from 2007 to 2008 and secretary for the National Security Division from March 2014 to October 2016.

Sadiq holds three postgraduate degrees; Masters in Political Science from Peshawar University (1980); Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, New York (1992); and MS in Defence and Security Studies, National Defence University, Islamabad.
