Digital evidence has taken centre stage in the drug case against Cocaine Queen Anmol, alias Pinky, in the court of a judicial magistrate in Karachi South, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
The court has issued a notice to the public prosecutor on a police application seeking permission to send voice recordings and other digital evidence for forensic examination in cases registered against drug dealer Pinky.
Police appealed to the court that voice recordings, voice messages, call recordings and other digital material linked to the suspect be sent to a forensic laboratory in Punjab for analysis.
Investigators informed the court that the evidence had been collected during the investigation but that the suspect had denied the recordings and messages belonged to her.
According to police, the accused lady drug dealer maintains that the voice heard in the messages and digital recordings is not hers.
Investigators argued that a forensic examination would help determine whether the recordings can be attributed to the suspect and assist in verifying the authenticity of the digital evidence.
The police further submitted that a forensic report from the Punjab laboratory could establish whether the voice in the recordings belongs to the accused.
Meanwhile, in two narcotics cases pending against Anmol, alias Pinky, the investigating officer failed to submit the challan before the court.
The officer sought additional time to complete the process and file the report. The court directed the investigating officer to submit the challan at the next hearing.
During Monday's proceedings, neither the accused nor her co-accused were produced before the court through a video link. The hearing was subsequently adjourned until 15 June.
