The federal government's budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 may be presented on June 12 instead of June 10, with consultations underway on a possible schedule change, sources said.
According to sources, a final decision on whether to revise the budget date is expected today or tomorrow.
Speaking informally to journalists at Parliament House, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said several matters related to the budget were still under discussion and had yet to be finalised.
"Things are yet to be finalised regarding the budget," he said, adding that discussions were continuing on various issues.
Ahsan Iqbal said the government was working within a limited timeframe while also taking into account the upcoming month of Muharram.
"There is very little time, and Muharram is also here. Let's see how it is possible to manage things on the same date," he said.
The minister noted that changes and adjustments often continue even after the budget is presented.
However, he avoided confirming any change to the schedule, saying he could not say anything definitive at this stage about whether the budget date would be revised or what the final decision would be.
