Punjab Chief Secretary announced the enforcement of Essential Services Act across Punjab after teachers declined to perform examination duties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The decision was taken after Punjab Chief Secretary took notice that most of the teachers refused to perform examination duties.

After the imposition of this act, all school and college teachers have to perform examination duties and strict action will be taken against those teachers who will refuse to perform their examination duties.

Service and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Punjab already issued a notification in this regard.

The matriculation examinations are being held across Punjab from March 4, 2025.

Earlier, Punjab Education Minister has directed authorities to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against staff members failing to report for duty and has immediately sought lists of those refusing to comply.

The minister emphasized that under service rules, no government teacher is allowed to refuse examination duty, warning that strict disciplinary measures will be taken against violators.
