The High-Powered Selection Board rules have been further amended for the promotion of officers to Grade 22 after the approval of the Prime Minister, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to an SRO released by the Establishment Division, the federal government has amended the rules to assign the chair of the High Power Selection Board to a federal minister nominated by the prime minister instead of the prime minister.
The Prime Minister, in exercise of powers under sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, has approved amendments to the Civil Servants (Promotion to Grade 22 or its equivalent) Rules, 2010.
Now the chairman of the High-Powered Selection Board will be the Prime Minister or a federal minister nominated by him who will perform the duties of the chairmanship in his place. It should be remembered that previously only the Prime Minister was the chairman of the High-Powered Selection Board.
This amendment was made on February 27, 2025, in light of which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif nominated Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar as the Chairman of the High-Powered Selection Board in his place.
