Indian rapper-singer Badshah has issued a public apology and removed his latest Haryanvi track Tateeree from all platforms after it sparked backlash over alleged objectionable lyrics and visuals involving girls in school uniforms.
The backlash erupted after allegations surfaced that the song’s video featured girls in school uniforms dancing inside a Haryana Roadways bus while making inappropriate gestures. Following complaints, the police registered an FIR and began proceedings to issue a lookout notice against the singer.
The matter also drew the attention of the Haryana State Commission for Women, which reportedly summoned the rapper over accusations that the track contained objectionable content involving women and minors.
Amid the growing criticism, Badshah shared a video on Instagram expressing regret and clarifying that he never intended to offend anyone. In his message, he said he was saddened to see that the lyrics and visuals had hurt people’s sentiments, particularly those from his home state of Haryana.
“I am from Haryana and I am a proud Haryanvi. My language, food, lifestyle and identity are deeply connected to the state,” he said in the video.
The rapper further explained that hip-hop music often features competitive lyrics aimed at rivals, but insisted the lines in the song were never meant to target women or children.
He added that he has always tried to promote Haryanvi culture and language through his music and apologised to anyone who felt hurt by the song.
