China has called on the United States and Israel to immediately halt attacks on Iran, urging them to end military operations and resolve the crisis through dialogue and diplomacy, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that strikes against Iran should stop without delay and that the conflict must be addressed through negotiations rather than force.
His remarks came amid rising tensions involving the United States and Israel in the region.
China has warned against seeking government change in Iran amid the ongoing US-Israeli offensive, saying any such move lacks public support.
“Plotting a ‘colour’ revolution or seeking government change will find no popular support,” China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi told a news conference on the sidelines of an important annual gathering in Beijing.
Wang Yi stressed that the conflict should never have erupted in the first place and warned that the use of military force cannot provide a lasting solution to complex geopolitical disputes.
The Chinese foreign minister emphasized the need for all parties to return to the negotiating table, adding that the security and sovereignty of Iran and the Gulf countries must be respected to maintain regional stability.
He also urged major global powers to play a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire in Iran, saying cooperation among influential countries would be essential for de-escalation.
Wang urged “all sides” to return to the negotiating table “as quickly as possible” to resolve differences through dialogue, and work to realise common security.
China, he added, stands ready to work with the regional countries to “restore order to the Middle East, calm to its people, and peace to the world”.
Wang Yi further noted that the current year holds particular importance for relations between China and the United States, stressing that both nations should work together in the same direction and foster an environment conducive to high-level diplomatic engagement.
