Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani to discuss the rapidly deteriorating regional security situation, the Foreign Office confirmed Thursday.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Dar informed his Italian counterpart in detail about India’s recent violations of Pakistani sovereignty, including the alleged use of stand-off weapons targeting civilian areas.

“These cowardly attacks have martyred innocent civilians, including women and children,” Dar said, condemning the strikes as a blatant breach of the UN Charter and international law.

Dar warned that India’s “reckless actions” were jeopardising regional peace and risked dragging two nuclear powers dangerously close to open conflict.

In response, Minister Tajani expressed deep condolences over the civilian casualties and emphasised the urgent need for diplomacy and de-escalation. He called for immediate dialogue to address the growing tensions and prevent further instability in South Asia.

The two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close communication in the coming days amid concerns of an unfolding crisis.
