PSX share prices suffer heavy losses, down 5.89pc

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) share prices suffered heavy losses on Thursday following fresh Indian drone attacks across the border, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The 100 index recorded a sharp decline of 6482 points. The 100 index closed at 103,526, down 5.89 percent. The market also remained suspended for an hour due to the sharp decline during trading. 

The high of the 100 index was 111,881 and the low of the 100 index was 111,526. 652.5 crore shares worth Rs 35.42 billion were traded. 100 index sees record drop of 6482 points in a single day. There was a panic situation on the floor after it was confirmed that an Indian drone was also shot down inside Karachi. The trading was suspended for an hour which was resumed after the break. 

The PSX’s benchmark KSE-100 index which was up by around 1,000 points in the opening session, sank by nearly 7,000 points in the noon session after which the lower lock was applied and trading was suspended for an hour. When the trading was halted, the index has nosedived by 6,948.72 points or -6.74 percent to 103,060. Of the total 433 companies traded so far, share prices of 46 companies went up, of 379 companies went down and eight remained unchanged.
