The Punjab government has started mock exercises by Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 across the province to ensure preparedness for any emergency amid prevailing situation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Civil Defence Department was fully activated on Thursday.
Mock drills took place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Multan, Muzaffargarh and other key locations of the province.
In view of tense situation on borders, Punjab Police mock drills continued across the province including Lahore.
In this regard, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, mock drills are being conducted to deal with any emergency situation.
IG Punjab said teams from Punjab Police, Elite Force, Traffic, CTD, Special Branch, Rescue 1122, Bomb Disposal Squad and other law enforcement agencies are participating in the mock drills.
Dr Usman Anwar said the aim of the mock drills is to deal with any emergency situation, prevent threats, rescue citizens safely, and further improve response time.
He said in view of the current border situation, mock drills will continue to ensure security, law and order, and relief activities.
Dr Usman Anwar said search, sweep and combing operations are also being conducted to hold terrorists and anti-national elements accountable.
Mock exercise at girls school
In view of the prevailing situation in the country, a mock exercise was held at Government Comprehensive Girls School, Madina Town on Thursday.
The exercise commenced by ringing a siren, signalling the start of the drill, during which students practiced practised dealing with emergency situations
Additional Commissioner General Tayyab Sami, District Education Officer Sardar Muhammad Sajid, Principal Qamar Sultana, Chief Instructor Hafiz Adnan, Rescue-1122 Safety Officer Ghulam Murtaza
were also present on the occasion.
Practical training was imparted to the students to deal with any untoward situation. The aim was to equip them with personal skills and raise awareness about safety protocols.
ADC Tayyab Sami said that the education department has initiated several proactive measures to enhance safety in schools.
Students participated enthusiastically in the exercise, demonstrating keen interest in learning emergency response techniques.
