In a significant diplomatic development amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, is set to visit Pakistan tomorrow, according to diplomatic sources.

The high-level visit is part of Riyadh’s behind-the-scenes efforts to ease regional tensions, with sources confirming that Saudi Arabia is actively engaged in reducing friction between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Adel al-Jubeir, who was in New Delhi earlier today, is scheduled to meet with his Pakistani counterpart and also hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Islamabad.

The back-to-back visits to both capitals suggest a mediatory role by the Kingdom, aimed at encouraging restraint and opening diplomatic channels amid a backdrop of growing military unease in the region.

The visit is being closely watched by analysts and international stakeholders hoping for a de-escalation of hostilities through regional diplomacy and dialogue.
