Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday to discuss the country’s evolving political situation and the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also attended the meeting, which was held at Bilawal House.
According to sources, the discussion primarily focused on political consultations surrounding the amendment and its potential implications for the country’s governance structure.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman was accompanied by senior JUI-F leaders, including Maulana Rashid Soomro and Mufti Abrar Ahmed. The leaders exchanged views on maintaining political stability and strengthening cooperation among various parties amid changing political dynamics.
Following the meeting, President Zardari summoned Dr. Asim Hussain to Bilawal House for further consultations.
In a separate development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met President Zardari to discuss matters related to internal security and the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Political observers note that these back-to-back meetings reflect growing efforts among key political figures to navigate the shifting landscape following the controversial amendment’s passage in Parliament.
