A joint meeting of Senate and National Assembly's Standing Committees on Law and Justice was held in Islamabad today to consider the Constitution (Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
The meeting decided that an extensive and clause-by-clause deliberation and review of the Bill will be undertaken to ensure thorough examination of all its provisions. The meeting was co-chaired by respective Chairpersons of both Committees Senator Farooq H. Naek and MNA Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk.
The meeting decided to continue deliberations in the next sitting scheduled for tomorrow morning to further consider the Bill.
Chairman Senate standing committee on law and justice Farooq H Naik has said that consensus has been developed on 80 percent of the points of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, adding that various political parties have agreed on Article 175 regarding the appointment of judges, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Talking to media after a joint session of both the NA and Senate standing committees on law and justice, Farooq H Naik said remaining 20 percent of the issues will be completed by tomorrow (Sunday). He hoped that legislation will be made after complete consensus. PPP leader said that all committee members presented their opinion and suggestions on the proposed legislation. He said all proposals of the members was being reviewed.
Naek urged PTI and other opposition members to give their opinion for the national interest. He said all points of the government and opposition members should come on the record.
PPP leader Naveed Qamar told media that the government has accepted the PPP's proposals and now the remaining proposals were being examined carefully. He said that no decision was made on the MQM's proposals. Naveed Qamar said that PPP believes that no new proposals should be made in hurry as PPP wanted that the previous proposals should be discussed for now.
