Hearing of the case of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s threat to a female judge, which was due to be held in a court in Islamabad today on Saturday, had to be adjourned due to the absence of judge Mureed Abbas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTI Chairman’s lawyer Khalid Yousaf appeared in the court of duty judge Rao Ijaz who put off the hearing until October 16.
PTI chairman had on July 19, 2023 apologized in court for his remarks against a female judge.
He told the judge that he had gone to the courtroom of Judge Zeba Chaudhry to apologize for whatever he said at a political gathering.
“I apologize if I had crossed the limits and hurt anyone,” the former prime minister said in his statement.
The PTI chairman had, on Aug 20, 2022, condemned the police as well as the judiciary over custodial torture on PTI leader Shahbaz Gill and announced that his party would file cases against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the DIG and AD&SJ Zeba Chaudhry.
He was booked under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) at Margalla police station of Islamabad for allegedly hurling ‘threats’ at a female judge.
Besides that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) also initiated contempt of court proceedings against him.
