The Local Government Department of Rawalpindi has imposed a ban on the registration of marriages conducted within the premises of the Zila Kachehri (district court), 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to details, the Deputy Director of Local Government and Community Development, Rawalpindi, has issued a formal notification prohibiting the registration of any future marriages solemnised within the Kachehri’s premises.
The order has been circulated to all Secretaries of Union Councils and Nikah Registrars across the district, instructing them not to record or register marriage contracts performed inside the Kachehri area.
The notification further warns that strict legal action will be taken against any violations of this directive.
Copies of the new and immediately enforceable order have also been sent to the Director and Assistant Director of the Local Government and Community Development Department, Rawalpindi.
