Four accused died and one became seriously injured in police encounters in Lahore and Faisalabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The first police encounter took place in the Sherakot area of Lahore in which the accused Khalil died when his accomplices opened fire on the anti-vehicle lifting scheme (AVLC) team.
Crime Control Department (CCD) said that the accused Khalil alias Khelu was involved in various motorcycle snatching incidents.
In another police encounter in Manawan, two accused became seriously injured during an exchange of fire.
Later, a CCD team arrested one injured accused, and the other escaped from the scene.
In another police encounter in Kahna area of Lahore, one arrested accused Saghir Masih was died while his accomplices attacked the CCD team in a bid to free him from police custody.
During the exchange of fire, the accused Saghir Masih received severe gunshots and died. Later, all accomplices of the accused escaped from the scene.
Later, the CCD team, shifted the dead body of the accused to the hospital mortuary. The CCD team said that Saghir Masih was involved in serious criminal cases.
In a separate police encounter in Faisalabad, one accused Abid, died at the firing of his accomplices in Jaranwala.
CCD sources said that some accused established a barricade after throwing wood on the road.
After taking notice of the CCD team, the accused started firing. When the firing was stopped, one accused received serious wounds from the firing of his colleagues.
The CCD team shifted the injured accused Zahid to the hospital, but he died. Later, five other accused fled from the scene.
