Senior journalist and Secretary General of Gaddani Press Club Tufail Ahmed Hyderani was shot dead during a clash between two tribes in Sindh town of Mirpur Mathelo on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Tufail Hyderani was hit by the bullets fired by the members of his own tribe.

Tufail Hyderani was taking children to school in the morning when he was caught in the hail of bullets.

In a related sad incident, Tufail Hyderani’s niece also died in a hospital after learning about her uncle’s death.

Three people had so far been killed in the armed clashes between the rival tribal groups in Mirpur Mathelo.

Journalists hold protest

The journalists' community staged a sit-in against the brutal murder of Tufail Hyderani in Mirpur Mathelo.

The journalists demanded that their sit-in would continue till the arrest of the accused who were involved in the murder of Tufail Hyderani.

The sit-in was staged opposite the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghotki.

Journalist Tufail was going to drop the children off at their school when an unidentified accused opened fire on him.

Detained accused says it was ‘revenge’

The main accused Khalil Hyderani, in his confessional statement, said that journalist Tufail Hyderani and his brother Jameel murdered his son Amir Rind in 2022.

He said that justice cannot be delivered to him. No other person is involved in the murder of journalist Tufail Hyderani.

He said, “Today I took revenge for his murder. He further revealed that his cousin Qayyum Hyderani is not involved in the murder of Tufail Hyderani.”

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed condolences over the murder of journalist Tufail Hyderani.

According to CM spokesman Abdur Rashid Channa, the chief minister has termed attacks on journalists as attacks on freedom of expression.

Murad Ali Shah has sought a report into the murder from Sindh IGP, directing the police high-ups to immediately arrest the killers and ensure impartial inquiry into the death of Tufail Hyderani.
