Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shahzad Awan has expressed a strong reaction to the increase in the prices of petroleum products and announced a 5 percent increase in fares, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In a statement, Malik Shehzad Awan rejected daily changes in the prices of petroleum products.
He said that the goods transporters called off their 40-day strike after getting assurance from the federal and provincial governments to resolve their outstanding issues.
Malik Shehzad Awan said that in case the government will not honor to its commitments then they will have to observe strike across the country.
Earlier on August 14, 1026, the All-Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance called off its nationwide strike temporarily after receiving assurances from the federal and Sindh governments on key demands, including the petroleum pricing mechanism.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, alliance president Malik Shahzad Awan said that the federal and provincial governments have assured to resolve key issues including toll tax reduction, parking issues, petroleum pricing and axle load limits.
