Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has spoken out after footage of police action against families protesting for the return of Pakistani sailors held by Somali pirates surfaced online.
Hania shared the video on her Instagram Story along with a strongly worded message about the growing sense of injustice surrounding such incidents.
“There is something deeply frightening about how quickly we are being forced to move from one tragedy, one injustice, to the next,” she wrote.
She added, “Before we can grieve one, there is another. And somewhere in that cycle, accountability disappears.”
Hania ended her message with a question that reflected her frustration over the repeated crises. “How much more are we expected to witness before something actually changes?” she wrote.
The actress appeared to use the incident to highlight a wider concern about how quickly one serious issue can disappear from public attention when another crisis takes its place.
The footage shared by Hania showed police action during a protest in Karachi involving families of Pakistani sailors reportedly being held by Somali pirates. The families have been seeking government intervention and the safe return of their loved ones.
The sailors are part of the crew of MT Honour 25, which was hijacked by Somali pirates in April. Their families have continued to protest and raise their concerns over the prolonged captivity of the crew members.
The police action during the protest has since drawn attention online, with footage of the incident prompting discussion about how the protesting families were treated. Hania's decision to share the video has further brought the issue into the spotlight.
