The Judicial Commission investigating murder of Mir Raza has summoned the Sindh Home Minister on the next hearing and adjourned the further proceedings until September 10, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The commission heard the Mir Raza murder case in Karachi on Tuesday, during which Police Surgeon Dr Samia recorded her statement before it.
During the proceedings, Commission head Justice Umar Sial exchanged hot words with Advocate General Sindh Jawad Dero who unnessarrity interfered when the lawyer representing Mir Raza’s family, Jibran Nasir, sought to ask questions.
Justice Umar Sial raised his eyebrows over AG's intervention, saying that the family’s lawyer had the right to pose queries if the family had concerns that needed to be addressed.
“If the family has some unanswered points and wants to ask them through Jibran Nasir then what is the problem?” Justice Umar Sial inquired.
The commission termed the Advocate General’s intervention as interference in its proceedings. Javad Dero clarified that he was not meddling in the proceedings rather assisting the commission.
However, Justice Umar Sial told him that Jibran Nasir was representing the victim’s family and had the right to ask questions.
The Advocate General maintained that questions should be asked by the commission rather than the lawyer.
The commission subsequently suspended the proceedings and summoned Sindh Home Minister to appear before it and also termed the role of the Sindh government "suspicious" during the proceedings.
Later, the judge issued a written order regarding Tuesday’s proceedings including decision to summon the Sindh Home Minister was also issued.
Talking to the media after the hearing, AG Jawad Dero said he did not know whether the Sindh Home Minister would appear before the commission or not.
He said he had not interfered in the commission’s proceedings but apologized to Justice Umar Sial nonetheless.
Jawad Dero also said he did not agree with the commission head’s remarks that the Sindh government’s role was suspicious.
Talking to the media, Jibran Nasir said that the family had witnessed the introductory proceedings and that he had been asked to put a question before the commission, but was not granted permission to do so.
Jibran Nasir said the family wanted its concerns to be addressed through its counsel during the proceedings.
