Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb holds consultations with representatives of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and other chambers of commerce on budget proposals, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Finance Minister holds virtual meeting with presidents and representatives of chambers of commerce across the country and detailed consultations were held in the meeting on the upcoming budget, current economic situation and economic recovery measures.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Revenue Division.
Finance Minister pledges that the government will move forward in collaboration with the private sector. He said that the government was taking steps to ensure fiscal discipline.
The Finance Minister said efforts were being made to stabilize the economy through measures to improve external payments and protect the vulnerable segments. Finance Minister said Pakistan has got opportunities to become a regional trade, logistics and transshipment hub.
He said that it was important to take advantage of these opportunities. Finance Minister also sought suggestions for the improvement and development of the economy.
During the meeting, business leaders submitted proposals to promote exports. The traders proposed to reduce business costs for increase in foreign investment.
The industrialists proposed improvement in infrastructure and ensure continuity in policies. Traders suggested the government to improve liquidity, access to new markets. The traders also emphasized on providing facilities to the industrial sector.
Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, said the government was committed to implement the reform agenda. He assured traders that the actionable proposals will be made part of the budget. Bilal Azhar Kayani said all recommendations will be carefully reviewed and the process of consultation with stakeholders will continue.
