Pakistan earned one silver and two bronze medals at the 2025 International Economics Olympiad (IEO), held in Baku from July 20 to 29, according to a statement from the Pakistan Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Ameena Babar won silver, while Sarim Haseeb and Zarar Tariq claimed bronze medals. All three students, hailing from Lahore, were part of Pakistan’s five-member team competing against participants from 68 countries.

“The Ambassador welcomed the national team that represented Pakistan at the IEO 2025 in Baku,” the embassy said in a post on X. “The team secured 03 medals – 01 silver and 02 bronze. This remarkable achievement highlights the growing potential of young Pakistani economists.”

The IEO challenges high school students worldwide with a mix of open-ended questions, multiple-choice tests, and a business case study.

The team’s participation was financially supported by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The 2026 International Economics Olympiad will be held in China.
