Kosovo's opposition threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and shouted "shame" during a tense parliamentary session over the continued delay in electing a speaker.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Kurti had asked for additional time to elect the parliamentary speaker.

The dispute has added to the political uncertainty in Kosovo, where lawmakers have been unable to elect a speaker since the June elections.

Opposition parties objected to the request for more time, arguing that a deadline set by the Constitutional Court had already expired.

They said the parliamentary session was therefore unconstitutional and criticised the government for failing to resolve the deadlock.

The confrontation escalated inside parliament when opposition members threw eggs at Kurti while shouting slogans of protest.

The continued failure to elect a speaker has left Kosovo's parliament facing a prolonged political impasse, with rival parties remaining divided over the next steps.
