Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday directed members of the Punjab cabinet to visit petrol pumps in their constituencies to keep an eye on the availability of petrol, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
CM Naqvi gave these instructions at the fourth meeting of the Punjab cabinet held in Lahore.
The cabinet approved a grant of Rs1 billion for the families of martyrs of the police department.
The cabinet also gave approval to the inclusion of flour in the category of essential food items.
The chief minister sought recommendations from ministers for introducing a foolproof system for offering targeted subsidy on flour.
The cabinet also gave a green signal to the purchase of wheat from PASCO.
CM Naqvi ordered the appointment of officers for the purpose on merit.
The cabinet also approved rules and regulations for corporate farming under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under which 127, 000 acres of land in five districts of Punjab would be available for farming.
Similarly, approval was given to the reconstitution of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute. Dr. Saeed Akhtar will be the Board chairman.
Likewise, in order to ensure recruitment in the Punjab Food Department on merit, it was decided that from now onwards those getting jobs in the department would have to sit in the Punjab Public Service Commission exams.
The cabinet also okayed the formation of a search committee to appoint new vice-chancellors at public universities.
The cabinet also approved an extension in the period of contract of the staff of the Punjab Quality Control Board.
It was also decided to put off recruitment in the new administrative units of Punjab.
