Google Messages is set to introduce WhatsApp video call integration, making it easier for users to connect without switching apps.
The feature was discovered through an APK teardown of the latest app version, revealing that Google is actively working on this enhancement.
With this update, users will be able to initiate WhatsApp video calls directly from the Google Messages interface, provided both the sender and recipient have WhatsApp installed.
A new video call icon will appear in the top-right menu, enabling seamless connectivity with a single tap.
At present, this functionality is limited to one-on-one chats, meaning group conversations and users without WhatsApp will continue to rely on Google Meet for video calls. However, future updates may refine how the feature operates.
While an official release date has not been announced, the feature is in active development and is expected to roll out in the coming weeks. Users hope Google will provide the option to choose between WhatsApp and Google Meet for video calls, offering greater flexibility based on their preferred platform.
