The price of wool thread has surged in Faisalabad, leaving industrialists operating embroidery machines deeply concerned about rising production costs, reported 24NewsHd TV channel Sunday.
The price per kilogram has jumped from Rs 1,230 to Rs 1,500, significantly increasing the financial strain on businesses.
Industrialists have pointed to expensive electricity tariffs as the primary reason behind the escalating costs. They have urged the government to provide immediate relief in electricity bills, warning that continued hikes in power costs will further disrupt their operations.
"The burden of inflation is already unbearable, and if electricity rates are not reduced, the situation will worsen during the summer months," industrialists stated, emphasizing that tariff adjustments are necessary to ease their financial burden.
They also cautioned that if electricity prices remain high, wool thread manufacturers are likely to increase rates even further in the coming months, compounding the crisis for the textile and embroidery sector.
The embroidery industry plays a crucial role in Faisalabad’s textile economy, and industrialists are now calling for urgent government intervention to prevent further damage to their businesses.
