Islamic Ideology Council (IIC) Chairman Dr Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi has announced guidelines for paying Fitrana (Sadaq-e-Fitr) and Fidya (atonement for not keeping fast) and Kaffara (atonement for breaking fast deliberately) for the current year.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, he said a minimum of Rs300 per person should be paid as Fitrana based on wheat, while those opting for other forms of food products like barley, dates, or dried apricots will be required to pay varying amounts.
According to the IIC chairman, Fitrana is Rs1,100 per person if calculated based on barley, while it is Rs1,600 per person if calculated on the basis of dates, he said.
Dr Naeemi clarified the ruling regarding Kaffara for deliberately breaking a fast during Ramazan.
He said that a person who intentionally breaks a fast is required to either observe fasts for straight 60 days or feed 60 needy people two meals each.
