Indian authorities have issued a high alert after a bomb threat email warned of an explosion inside the Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha, at 1:11 PM on February 13, reported Indian media on Monday.
The message contained inflammatory slogans, referred to Khalistan, included the line “Delhi will become Khalistan", mentioned Afzal Guru, and claimed responsibility in the name of the Khalistan National Army.
Several schools across Delhi also received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, prompting a large security response and precautionary evacuations.
The emails were reported between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. Soon after, teams from Delhi Police, the fire department, and bomb disposal squads were sent to the campuses. Safety checks were currently under way.
Students and staff were asked to leave the premises as a precaution. Officials said no suspicious object has been found so far, but an investigation has begun to trace the source of the calls.
The schools that received the threats included Loreto Convent School (Delhi Cantt), Cambridge School (Srinivasanpuri), Venkateshwar School (Rohini), Cambridge School (NFC), The Indian School (Sadiq Nagar), CM School (Rohini), DTA School (INA) and Bal Bharati School (Rohini).
The email also claimed responsibility under the name “Khalistan National Army."
Further probe into the matter was under way.
