Railway traffic on up and down tracks was suspended after a freight train was derailed near Mehrabpur in Sindh province on Monday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to railway police, the accident occurred at Deparja Phatak, where ten wagons of the train went off the track and five overturned.
The freight train was en route from Karachi to Punjab at the time of the incident.
Authorities confirmed that both up and down tracks were affected, causing suspension of train movement in both directions.
A relief train has been dispatched from Rohri to assist in repair and restoration work.
Railway officials stated that clearing the track may take between eight to ten hours, while passenger and freight trains have been halted at various stations.
