Declaring the returning officer’s (RO) decision null and void, an appellate election tribunal on Tuesday accepted the nomination papers of Rehana Imtiaz Dar, mother of ex-PTI leader Usman Dar, for the National Assembly (NA) seat (NA-71), Sialkot, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The tribunal comprised of Justice Shakeel Ahmad.
She is up against her son's longtime rival Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
Rehana’s papers had earlier been rejected by the returning officer (RO) on the grounds that she had allegedly grabbed 40-marla land through forgery.
The nation will go to polls on February 8, 2024.
الحمداللّہ...حق اور سچ کی فتح ہوئی.
