Work has commenced on a project to convert 256 schools to solar energy at a total cost of Rs700 million, marking a major step towards promoting renewable energy in the education sector.
In the first phase, higher secondary schools will be shifted to solar power. As part of the initiative, 15 schools in Lahore will be converted to solar energy.
According to officials, the total capacity of the solarisation project will be 5,515 kilowatts. The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Punjab Energy Department to ensure transparency and timely completion.
In addition to the solarisation of schools, the project also includes the installation of 50 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, further supporting clean and sustainable energy initiatives.
