In another shocking case of social media-related violence, a man shot and killed his daughter in Rawalpindi for refusing to delete her TikTok account, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to police reports, the accused father demanded that his daughter, Mehak Shehzadi, delete her TikTok profile. When she refused, he lost his temper and opened fire on her.
The incident occurred in the Dhoke Chohdrian, Takht Pari area under the jurisdiction of Ruat Police Station.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered on the complaint of Head Constable Shehbaz Anjum Kayani, confirming that the accused murdered his daughter by firing at her.
The suspect fled the scene, and a police search is currently underway to arrest him.
This tragic case follows a similar incident just last month.
On June 2, TikTok star Sana Yousuf, a 17-year-old first-year MBBS student and social media influencer with over a million followers, was shot dead in G-13/1 Islamabad, within the Sumbal police station jurisdiction.
Sana Yousuf hailed from Upper Chitral and had earned popularity through TikTok and Instagram for her lively content.
According to police, Sana was shot twice by a 22-year-old boy named Omar Hayat, who allegedly opened fire after she rejected his advances. He had visited her home when the incident took place.
Initially, reports stated that the accused broke into her house and shot her, after which she was rushed to KRL Hospital and Shifa Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect was later arrested in Faisalabad within 20 hours of the murder. The police have also succeeded in recovering the weapon (a pistol) from the custody of the accused person.
