Three militants were killed while another was injured in an exchange of fire with the police near Kot Kashmir in the limits of Gambeela police station in Lakki Marwat on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Police said that the shoot-out began after they laid siege to a house in which the militants had taken shelter.
One of the cops namely Shahidullah was also killed as a result of the exchange of fire, the Force elaborated.
Firing was continuing between the two sides till the filing of this report.
RPO Sajjad Khan said that more contingents of the police and armoured vehicles had reached the site in view of the situation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi pays homage to cop
Praising deceased Shaidullah, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the cop set an example of bravery by laying down his life in the line of duty. "His sacrifice will always be remembered," he added.
He offered his condolences to the bereaved family and said that the KP Police were acting like a bulwark against terrorism. "We salute the brave personnel of the KP Police."
